What is Clairvoyance?

This week I will be interviewed on the local radio station KSKQ as part of a month long theme on Intuition.  As I thought about some of the information I’d like to share, it occurred to me that, in all the years I’ve shared here on this blog, I have never devoted an article to the topic of Clairvoyance.   And, since I am a clairvoyant reader and healer, it makes sense to answer this question: What is Clairvoyance?!

One of the things I’ve noticed when people ask me the common question “what do you do?” is that I don’t always respond by saying “I give clairvoyant readings.”  Sometimes I say that, other times I might say “I’m a spiritual counselor or guide” or something to that effect.  This is because the word “clairvoyant” can mean different things to different people.  Often without realizing it, people have various pictures that come up in their mind associated with words, especially very charged words like Clairvoyance.  (There are thousands of examples of other “charged” words, any word that has a variety of meanings or reactions for people, such as God, death, school, relationships, money, mom, dad etc.)  Sometimes when I’m speaking with someone about what I “do”, I may avoid the associations or mental images they have with clairvoyance, simply by not using that word.  Other times I’ll see what happens when I use that word, or I’ll recognize that the person has a positive or neutral association with clairvoyance, and therefore using the word is helpful for the clarity of our communication, rather than distracting or confusing.

We all have a variety of psychic abilities that operate simultaneously and in tandem with one another, whether we are aware of it or not.  Clairvoyance and intuitive knowing are related to our 6th and 7th chakras, and are often the most invalidated and, therefore, least understood and consciously used.  What stops or blocks us from consciously using our third eye, our “eye of Spirit,” is basically fear.  In fact, when I use the word clairvoyant, or not, when answering the question “what do you do?,” fear is what comes up for people.  Clairvoyance has an incredible amount of fear associated with it!  But usually people don’t recognize this fear.  It is unconscious, covered up by judgement.

We don’t see what we do not want to see.  We don’t want to see what we fear.  And we hide this fear under layers of judgement.  But what is it that we are really afraid of?  And who or what is it that is afraid?  These are the kinds of questions, and their answers, that are found when we say Hello to our intuitive and clairvoyant awareness, and use that awareness to see what Is, and what isn’t. They aren’t the kind of questions and answers that most people seek, and that’s a huge part of why most people are not clairvoyant.  But anyone who seeks can find, anyone who chooses to use their inherent spiritual abilities, like clairvoyance and intuitive knowing, can and will develop them and find more questions, and more answers.  The more you look, the more you see, and the more you see, the more there is to look at within yourself, and on and on.  Clairvoyance requires that we suspend judgement, and allow ourselves to see what Is.

Clairvoyance, literally “clear seeing,” is our ability, as a soul, to see the All.  It is an ability that is cultivated throughout many lifetimes, and carried with us from one lifetime to another, because it is not a physical ability, but a spiritual ability.  Clairvoyance is just one of our many psychic (of the soul) abilities.  While clairvoyance manifests through our bodies, it happens whether or not we are in our body, or even have a body.  (You may notice how clairvoyant you are when you die! 😀 )  Developing your intuitive and clairvoyvant abilities in your body is an excellent way to advance on your spiritual path, because in doing so you are bringing your awareness as the soul that you are into your body.  A crucial step in furthering and completing your soul’s journey is the expression or sharing of your soul’s creativity and Light in the world.  In order to share who you are with the world, you must bring yourself into your body.  Developing and expressing your clairvoyance, by seeing the truth and sharing it, grounds your spiritual awareness in the bodymind and gives you a clear path for sharing yourSelf with the world.

Clairvoyance is seeing the Light of Truth within you, shining that Light on your path so that each step is clear and illuminated, and you are empowered to move forward with certainty in your inner divinity.
